The following three images illustrate the strain on a composite femur with paint-on photoelastic coating loaded with simple bending. The specimen was put in simple compression so that the moment arm of the femoral head caused the bending.

All femur images were acquired with the GFP 1000 Strain Measurement System using DeltaVision Software.
